Have you ever come across a homeless individual and felt totally uncomfortable?

You see them and you know they are in need, but you are not sure what to do. You know that handing them money is not the best thing. But, you also see that they clearly have some needs. Their lips are chapped. They are hungry. They are thirsty. They are asking for help.

How can you help?

Here is a simple idea - blessing bags.
This was such an easy project. We are now going to keep a few “Blessing Bags” in our car so that when we do happen to see someone on the streets who is homeless, we can hand them a Blessing Bag. I first learned of these bags from my friend, Julie. I am using the picture of her bags (see above) because the ones we took were taken in horrible lighting and turned out really grainy and hard to see what is inside of them.

If you’d like to make your own Blessing Bags, this is what you would need:

Gallon size Ziplock bags
items to go in the bags, such as:
chap stick
packages of tissues
toothbrush and toothpaste
comb
soap
trail mix
granola bars
crackers
pack of gum
band aids
mouthwash
coins (could be used to make a phone call, or purchase a food item)
hand wipes
you could also put in a warm pair of socks, and maybe a Starbucks gift card

Assemble all the items in the bags, and maybe throw in a note of encouragement. Seal the bags and stow in your car for a moment of providence.

This would be a great activity to do with some other families. Each family could bring one of the items going into the bags (ex: toothbrushes). Set up all the items around a table and walk around it with the ziplocks and fill the bags.

**LOST SERVICE DOG**

To my fellow Bay Area humans:

My name is Heather Pujals and I rescued an amazing dog named Ryan nearly 4 years ago who just went missing in Daly City, CA on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. She is a SERVICE DOG who, although I never expected this when I adopted her, has the gift of being able to detect the oncomings of my debilitating migraines. I have suffered with these all my life (they run in the family) and they have always caused me to miss a lot of school and work, and they are so excruciating that I become unable to drive, leave the house, or even eat, and I am sometimes forced to stay in bed for days. With The help of Ryan’s early detection of the chemical changes in my body before a migraine hits, I can take preventative medication that 9/10 times stops the migraine from surfacing. (Migraine alert dogs are not very common yet, but they are similar to seizure alert dogs.) I need her help, and it just so happens that her separation anxiety is bad enough that she really needs me too. We are like Siamese twins and never go anywhere without each other. Please help spread the word—even if you don’t live in the Bay Area, maybe you have friends or connections who do. Every “share” counts and the clock is ticking. I don’t know what I would do if something happened to Ryan. The longer she is out there, the higher her chances of being hit by a car (or other terrible things) become.

APPEARANCE:
Mostly black with brown paws, long silky yet fluffy fur, medium size, 40 lbs, floppy ears, black spots on pink tongue, border collie mix.

TEMPERAMENT:
Extremely shy, afraid of strangers (will not approach), will run if chased (DO NOT CHASE IF YOU SEE HER, call (408) 316-1587 ASAP and perhaps follow calmly from a distance), very sweet and loving with those she knows well, is very smart and knows dozens of commands but likely will not respond in this situation.

DETAILS:
Last seen on Wednesday, July 16 at 12pm near St. Francis Blvd and Higate Dr., Daly City, CA 94015.
Ryan is a 4 year old spayed female who is current on her Rabies vaccination, is microchipped, and is licensed in the city of San Francisco. She was wearing a blue collar with a name tag that has my number, as well as her SF dog license.

Your “share” could make the difference to help reunite me and Ryan. I can’t stand to be away from her and I know she is suffering too. Thank you.

signal boosting

Please find her. If Michonne (my pitty) was lost, I wouldnt know what to do.

I want to _____ you.

cant-speak-fangirling:

I have no idea why everyone in the entire world isn’t talking about this. I joined hogwartsishere just a few short hours ago and I’ve already had more fun than when I first discovered Pottermore. I highly encourage everyone to check it out! In case you’re curious, here’s a brief summary of how the site works:

After you’ve registered (i.e. enrolled) at the HiH Hogwarts, chosen your house, and created a personal Gringott’s vault  - which is entirely free, btw - you can join a dorm, add friends, buy books, register for classes, and earn house points by completing assignments. You get a personal profile and a gradebook to mark your progress, as well as access to fun sides like chocolate frog cards and academic gifts from your professors. YOU CAN EVEN WRITE YOUR OWN BOOKS (fictional and non-fictional) WHICH ARE THEN ADDED TO THE LIBRARY. MY NERDY HEAD SPUN ALL THE WAY AROUND, GUYS.

I’m taking History of Magic and Transfiguration at the moment, catching up on the lessons I missed when I had no idea the site existed. It’s surprisingly high brow, educationally extensive and an absolute blast. I also made, like, ten new friends during my first hilarious chat with my Slytherin dormmates. Honestly, as someone who’s almost always invisible, even online, that’s a huge deal to me. Everyone is so nice over there.

Go, fellow Potterheads! Go forth and get sorted*!

*In truth, you aren’t really sorted. You pick your house. Slytherin forever. ♥

If you’re getting mad at someone for adopting a parentless child and bringing that child into a loving home because their skin color doesn’t match then you need to take a good hard look at your priorities, evaluate your life, and ask yourself how you sunk this fucking low.

There we go! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
